Deputies, investigators and canine units with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office captured prison escapee Matthew Neil Brown in Southwest Statesville on Wednesday. Following up on a sighting tip, deputies were checking a homeless camp near Brown Summit Avenue in Statesville when the suspect ran.
The Statesville Police Department set up a perimeter, and drones and canine units were called to the scene. After a three-hour manhunt, Brown was located and taken into custody near Ravenwood Drive. Brown had escaped from the Caldwell Correctional Center July 17.
