In response to the closure of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Alexander County government is working with the Western Piedmont Council of Governments, NCWorks and local industry to assist. Several area manufacturers have responded publicly reminding impacted workers that there are positions available in a variety of industries across the valley. Additional details on job assistance will be released as more information becomes available. Those affected by the furniture plant closure may apply for unemployment benefits at the Department of Employment Security website at www.des.nc.gov.
