The Catawba County Sheriff’s office has reported the death of two small children as a result of a house fire in Denver near the Catawba and Lincoln county line. The fire occurred Sunday night on Grassy Creek Road where multiple crews responded to the fire at just before 9:00 pm. 3 children and their 2 grandparents were in the home at the time of the fire. The 2 grandparents and a 2 year old child were able to escape, while a 4 year old  and 6 year old were extracted through a window by firefighters. Both the 4 year old and 6 year old were later pronounced dead at the hospital 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but a preliminary assessment indicates the cause was due to an electrical issue.
