Alexander County and Iredell County judicial candidate’s residency challenged

The North Carolina State Board of Elections has appointed a panel to investigate the official residency of an Alexander County and Iredell County judicial candidate after a complaint was filed last week.
The complaint claims that Melissa Stewart, candidate for NC District Court Judge representing District 32 Seat 3 is not a full-time resident of Alexander county.
The NC State Board of Elections has appointed a 5 member panel from both Alexander and Iredell counties to conduct the hearing, which according to Paul Cox, attorney with the NCSBE, is required after a challenge is filed.
The hearing will take place today (December 28th) at 2:00 p.m. at the Iredell County Commissioners Meeting Room in Statesville.
