Upcoming 2024 Primary Election in Caldwell County:

The 2024 primary election will be held on Tuesday March 5, 2024. This includes, the presidential preference primary, US House Representatives, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Labor of Commissioner, Insurance Commissioner, State Senator, State Representative, NC Supreme Court Justice, NC Court of Appeals Judge, Superior Court Judge, District Court Judge, County Commissioner, Register of Deeds, and Board of Education this election, voters choose which candidates should be the party nominees to appear on the general election ballot. The 2024 general election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Voters affiliated with any political party may vote the ballot of candidates for their party only. For example, a registered Republican may vote the Republican primary ballot only. Some recognized political parties in North Carolina will not have primary ballots (Green Party and “No Label” Party)
Unaffiliated voters may choose to vote one political party’s ballot. A voter cannot vote in more than one party’s primary.
On March 5, 2024, Primary Election Day, all 15 Precincts in Caldwell County will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.
Reminder: Caldwell County Board of Elections voted unanimously to approve a precinct merge proposal which includes the following:
1) Combines PR006 (County Resource Center), PR013 (West Lenoir School) and PR014 (Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center). All affected voters are now located in Precinct 6 – Freedman and will vote at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, located at 313 Greenhaven Dr, Lenoir, NC 28645.
2) Combines PR007 (Whitnel Elementary School) and PR012 (Mulberry Recreation Center). All affected voters are now located in Precinct 7 – Lenoir and will vote at the Mulberry Recreation Center, located at 720 Mulberry St SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
To locate your polling place, go online at caldwellcountync.org to search your name on the Voter Look Up tool and scroll down to the ‘Your Voting Locations’ section.
Both Early Voting Sites: Granite Falls located at Shuford Recreation Center, 56 Pinewood Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630, and Lenoir located at Caldwell County Resource Center, 120 Hospital Ave NE, Lenoir, NC 28645(Lower Level of the Lenoir Library). Early Voting begins on Thursday February 15th and ends on Saturday March 2nd, 2024. Hours each weekday will be 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. Only Saturday open will be March 2nd 8:00 am to 3:00pm
Dates and Deadlines
Here are voter dates and deadlines for the 2024 primary election in North Carolina:
· Jan. 19, 2024: County boards of elections began mailing absentee ballots to eligible voters who submitted an absentee ballot request form.
· Feb. 9, 2024: Voter registration deadline (5 p.m.). *
· Feb. 15, 2024: In-person early voting begins.
· Feb. 27, 2024: Absentee ballot request deadline (5 p.m.). *
· March 2, 2024: In-person early voting ends (3 p.m.).
· March 5, 2024: Primary Election Day.
· March 5, 2024: Absentee ballot return deadline (7:30 p.m.). *
