Drug Money & Guns seized by Law Enforcement in Caldwell County

A joint operation conducted by the Lenoir Police Department, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the NC SBI led to a large seizure of US currency. The month long investigation led to the seizure of over $175,000 and two firearms from a local drug dealer. The investigation is ongoing.
The money was seized under the Department of Justice’s Asset Forfeiture Program. The program allows for the distribution of funds back to the investigating agencies. The money can then be used by the agencies to purchase better equipment for their Officers.
“The money seized by the agencies involved will make a huge dent in the drug trade in Caldwell County. The dealer would have sent this money to their supplier and started the whole process over again of receiving and distributing narcotics in Caldwell County. This seizure of money will definitely hinder the influx of narcotics into Caldwell County.”- Sheriff Kevin H. Bean
