On 02/05/25, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, NC Department of Adult Corrections Probation/Parole, and NC DAC State K-9 conducted a joint operation. After numerous citizen complaints about illegal activities in those areas, two teams utilized undercover and conspicuous patrol actions in the South Mountain and Hildebran/Icard communities.
During the operation, officers encountered Cody Alan Watson as a passenger in a vehicle stop. Watson attempted to give a fictitious name to officers, but after a short investigation, his identity was discovered. He was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia along with multiple outstanding warrants, including Felony Larceny and FTAs for Larceny from a Construction Site and Possession of Sch. II.
In another traffic stop, officers made contact with Joshua Louis Butler. Butler was found to have (2) FTAs for DWLR not Impaired and an Expired Registration Tag and was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.
Further, Officers aided the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Probation/Parole in conducting probationary searches and encountered Terry Icard Jr. with multiple outstanding warrants including FTAs for Deliver/Accept Blank/Open Title, Fail to Apply for New Title, DWLR Not Impaired, Operate Vehicle No Insurance and Fictitious/Alt Title/Card/Tag/Registration. In addition to these warrants, Icard was also found in possession of Methamphetamine. Officers in this operation were also able to recover a stolen vehicle and developed leads in supplementary narcotic investigations. These additional cases are currently under investigation.
