Flu-related deaths in North Carolina have topped 350, beating last flu season’s total. This season, there have been 362 flu-related deaths, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. It released the latest figures Wednesday afternoon. That surpasses last flu season’s total of 319 deaths.
NCDHHS says this past week there were 23 flu-related deaths, compared to 41 deaths and 60 deaths the two weeks prior. Of those 362 deaths, 360 were adults and two were children. Of the 360 adult deaths, 264 were people 65 or older, 70 were people between the ages of 50 and 64, 24 were between 25 and 49, and two were between 18 and 24.
