Alexander County Sheriff’s office arrested a man yesterday who was wanted on 2 counts of second degree murder, after a domestic dispute turned into a standoff.
Deputies responded to a reported disturbance Wednesday at around 3:30 am at 227 Lail Lane in Taylorsville. Upon arrival deputies made contact with a female and a child who was able to exit the residence, leaving a male subject who had barricaded himself inside.
After approximately two and a half hours, deputies were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Chanceler Timothy Johnson of Taylorsville.
Johnson had two outstanding indictments for second-degree murder issued out of Catawba County. These charges were in connection with a deadly crash involving a police vehicle following a chase in Hickory in 2023 that took the life of a mother and her son.
After being transported to Frye Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained during the incident, Johnson was released into the custody of the Hickory Police Department and taken to the Catawba County Detention Center where he was placed under a 1.5 million dollar bond.
Charges are forthcoming in Alexander County.
