Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division seized sixty (60) grams of fentanyl and arrested two suspected traffickers in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Investigators also seized three (3) grams of methamphetamine, two (2) firearms and drug paraphernalia which occurred early Saturday morning 04/26/2025. These seizures occurred while the suspected traffickers were stopped in a vehicle along US Highway 321. One of the seized firearms was reported stolen from Lincoln County.
Nicholas James Shoup ,35, and Tracy Shane Campos ,32, were arrested and have been charged in connection with this investigation. Shoup has been charged with Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Possession, Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Transportation, Maintain Vehicle for Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Schedule II, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Shoup received a $750,000 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 04/28/2025.
Campos was charged with Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Possession, Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Transportation, Felony Possession of Schedule II, Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Campos received a $700,000 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 04/28/2025.
