On Tuesday Catawba County Sheriff’s Office along with state and federal officials held a press conference to update the public on their investigation of the mass shooting that occurred on June 1st.
Catawba County District Attorney Scott Reilly announced grand jury Indictments against seven of the individuals who were arrested in connection with the shooting.
Garon Killian, Toland Huff Jr, Zachary Bates, Izaiah Mitchell, Ke’andre Mack , and Charles Kincaid III were each charged with 1 count of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, and 63 counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder.
Additionally Killian was charged with 7 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and Huff was charged with 2 counts of Accessory After The Fact To Attempted First Degree Murder for their involvement in the Party City shooting in Hickory on April 5th.
Also charged in the indictment was Zoe Braswell. She was charged with 4 counts of Accessory After The Fact To Attempted First Degree Murder.
Authorities said that the premeditated attack was gang related, but did not give additional details as to whether there were specific individuals being targeted.
Officials also revealed that multiple partygoers returned fire during the incident, and it was a bullet from one of the individuals returning fire that struck and killed Shawn Hood. No criminal charges are expected to be filed as it relates to Hood’s death.
Officials confirmed that in addition to the 1 fatality, there were 10 other gunshot victims and 1 individual injured during the incident.
