Guilty verdicts delivered in 2024 Caldwell murder case

Felix Alexander Mejia, age 22 ,of Charlotte was convicted in Caldwell County Superior Court on Friday (9/12) of Second Degree Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Mejia was sentenced to the North Carolina Department of Correction for 240-300 months for the Second Degree Murder charge and 64-89 months for the Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon charge.

Elisabeth Cano-Puerto Ricci, age 18, of Charlotte was convicted of Accessory After the Fact to First Degree Murder and was sentenced to the North Carolina Department of Correction for 73 to 100 months.

Rina Marbella Cano, age 20, of Charlotte was convicted of Accessory After the Fact to First Degree Murder for which she received 73-100 months in the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Felony Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon for which she received 64-89 months.

The convictions stem from their August 2024 arrest following an investigation by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department after a body, later identified as 47 year old Jeimy Alexander Bohorquez–Reyes of Charlotte that was located on the northbound side of US Hwy 321, north of NC Hwy 268 on July 28th of 2024.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all agencies that assisted in investigating this case and bringing these suspects to justice.
