A Connelly Springs man is facing multiple charges. Tommy Dean Smith 30, was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense, shoplifting and assault on a government official. Smith was arrested at Walmart on Hwy 70 after attempting to return shoplifted items. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $26,000 secured bond. His court dates are set for March 1st, 8th and 22nd.
