FIVE HICKORY POLICE OFFICERS SWORN-IN

HICKORY – On November 15, 2019, family and friends attended the formal swearing in of five new officers to the Hickory Police Department.

Christopher Gage Davis, a native of Morganton, and graduate from R.L. Patton High School, was hired by Hickory Police Department after previously being employed by law enforcement in Burke County. Davis attended B.L.E.T. at Western Piedmont Community College.

Robert Mark Phillips, a native of Daytona Beach, FL was hired by Hickory Police Department after completing B.L.E.T. at Catawba Valley Community College.

Mitchell Edward Pitman is a graduate of St. Stephens High School and native of Catawba County, NC. Pitman was hired by HPD after working part-time for Claremont Police Department.

Hannah Marie Roberts, a native of Burke County, and graduate of East Burke High School. She attended B.L.E.T. at Western Piedmont Community College before being hired by Hickory Police Department.

Trevor Chase Smith, a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice was hired by HPD after working as an Appalachian State University Police Reserve Officer. Smith is a native of Thomasville, NC.

“With each new officer that joins our department, we are excited to see their personal growth as police officers and the collaborative growth of dedicated individuals that make up the HPD family,” said Chief Thurman Whisnant.
