After 39 years a local superintendent is set to retire. Robbie Adell has announced he will retire from the Hickory Public Schools effective June 30, 2021. Adell has served in Hickory since 2005. Prior to that he served in many capacities including teacher and assistant superintendent in Buncombe County.
