The City of Hickory invites the public to attend the naming dedication of the main room at the newly renovated Ridgeview Branch Library in honor of former Hickory City Councilman Webster Lytle. The ceremony will take place at the library on Saturday, July 16, at 1 p.m.

The City of Hickory will offer a five-week class called Hickory 101 for citizens wishing to learn about the inner workings of local government. Each week, participants will learn about City functions and departments by touring facilities, seeing demonstrations, and hearing presentations.  Hickory 101 is a condensed version of the popular Neighborhood College program that provides a broad overview of Hickory’s local government in five sessions. The class will run each Thursday afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., September 29 through October 27.
