MORGANTON – A single gunshot injury resulted in an individual being airlifted to a trauma center from a local hospital.
The alleged shooter, twenty-five-year-old Rodney Shaquan Thompson, reportedly fled the scene on foot, but turned himself in near the scene little after 8 p.m., according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Burke County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Criminal and Narcotics investigators, law enforcement from nearby agencies, and emergency medical services responded to a call regarding a shooting that reportedly happened at 3632 Ridge Court, Lot 6 in Morganton a little after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Thompson was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Burke County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
The victim is currently listed in stable condition.
The investigation is still ongoing.
