On Saturday the Hickory Police Department is investigating a fatal wreck. A box truck was traveling south on NC 127 and moved into the middle turning lane to turn left onto 31st Avenue Court NE. As the driver of the vehicle turned onto the street, a moped, traveling north on NC 127, collided with the rear passenger side of the box truck. The driver of the moped, Gerald Fulbright, was pronounced dead on the scene by Catawba County EMS. No charges are filed at this time, and the investigation is on-going.
