Josh Stein names two locals Dogwood Award

Attorney General Josh Stein recently awarded the Attorney General’s Dogwood Award to seven people in western North Carolina. This award is given to North Carolinians who help to make their communities safer, stronger, and healthier.  One of the people honored with this award was Johnnie Carswell of the Burke County Board of Commissioners. Stein said that Carswell was a key member in making sure the $750 million my office secured from the national opioid settlement actually gets to the people who need it most. Sgt. Candace Burlingame of the Boone Police Department was also honored for her years of overseeing sexual assault crimes.
