Body discovered in Wal-Mart parking Lot

At around 5:20 pm on Saturday (January 21st), the Hickory Police Department responded to reports of a body in the Walmart parking lot on Highway 70 S.E. in Hickory. After investigation, they identified the man as a 38-year-old male from Newland. The cause of death is believed to be a drug overdose. The Hickory Police Department is currently investigating the incident and will provide more information as it becomes available.
