Man Arrested for Passing a Stopped School Bus

Joseph Graham Padgett Jr., a 35-year-old from Statesville, was arrested by Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol on Saturday (March 4) on a felony fugitive warrant from another state. In addition to the warrant, Padgett faces several charges including passing a stopped school bus, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, and improper passing, all stemming from a stopped school bus violation on Old Mountain Road in Iredell County last Thursday (March 2). The Highway Patrol thanked multiple police departments for their assistance in the investigation. After being taken into custody, Padgett was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. He does not appear in the inmate roster as of today (March 6) and is scheduled to appear in District Court on March 16 for the traffic charges and March 27 for the fugitive count.
