NCDOT will convert the intersection of Dudley Shoals Road and Pinewood Road into an all-way stop

Starting this Wednesday, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will convert the intersection of Dudley Shoals Road and Pinewood Road into an all-way stop to improve safety. Prior to this change, only drivers approaching Dudley Shoals Road from Pinewood Road had to stop at the intersection. However, after a review of the intersection revealed 17 dangerous crashes in a decade, NCDOT decided to implement this safety improvement project, which is estimated to cost $6,000 and is part of the Highway Safety Improvement Program. In addition to installing advance warning signs, the NCDOT is reminding drivers to follow right-of-way rules, such as giving priority to the first vehicle at the intersection and yielding when turning left. Motorists are also encouraged to use turn signals and be mindful of pedestrians and other vehicles, even when they have the right-of-way.
