NCDOT contract crews began a $9 million structure preservation project on Interstate 40 near Statesville, awarded to Mountain Creek Contractors Inc. in January. The project includes lane closures between mile markers 130-148 and work on 18 structures between Hickory and Statesville. Work will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with completion planned for this fall. Maintenance tasks include debris clearing, deck and joint repairs, painting, applying an epoxy overlay, and resurfacing bridge approaches.
