UPDATE: In reference to the fatal collision on NC 150 in Catawba County on Monday, June 26, the NC State Highway Patrol has filed charges. Jerry Lee Johnson, 80, of Sherrills Ford, has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and without decreasing speed as necessary to avoid colliding with a person. His first court appearance is on Dec. 8.
A 48-year-old Statesville man has died from injuries sustained in a collision Saturday night. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Chad Jeremy Hart of Statesville was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Buffalo Shoals Road in Iredell County when he collided with a vehicle driven by 28-year-old George Lee of Claremont, who was turning left into a gas station. Lee was arrested and charged with driving while impaired. Additional charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
