A Lenoir man was killed Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision in Caldwell County just south of the Watauga line. A Porsche 911 Carrera was traveling south on U.S. 321 when it crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2022 Chevy Silverado.
The driver of the Porsche, 49-year-old Harold Kelly Parsons, died at the scene, while the passenger in the same vehicle was transported by helicopter to Johnson City Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver of the Silverado, 47-year-old Andrew Sigmon of Lincolnton, was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the initial investigation indicates careless and reckless driving to be the contributing factor in the collision.
