Lenoir Man Sentenced for Trafficking

Jermaine Douglas Grandy of Lenoir has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl and illegal gun possession, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina announced Friday. Between December 2020 and February 2021, 42-year-old Grandy conspired with others to distribute fentanyl in Caldwell County and surrounding areas.
In 2021, Grandy was returning to North Carolina from a trip to Arizona when law enforcement stopped him in Granite Falls and found three loaded 9mm pistols and approximately 34,000 pills wrapped in 14 bundles in the air vent under the hood of the car. Law enforcement also searched a home associated with Grandy and seized a money counter, two digital scales, and 29 illegal firearms.
The ATF, SBI, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, the Hickory Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration helped with the case.
