Unemployment Ticks Up Slightly

Unemployment rates increased in 86 North Carolina counties in June. Compared to the June rates in 2022, only one county in the state has higher unemployment than rates than a year ago. Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba had slight increases in June, but all four have lower unemployment than in June 2022. All four counties remain in the state’s Top 50 for employment rate with Alexander leading the way for June at 3.2 percent, which ranks as the state’s 15th lowest unemployment rate.
