A man was killed Saturday after a vehicle collision on Shook Road near Rock Barn Road in Claremont. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, an SUV struck a riding mower being driven by 59-year-old Philip Michael Brooks. He was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured and no charges will be filed in the case.
