A couple has been arrested in connection with a robbery and shooting at a Hickory apartment complex. Tony Ray Kirkland, 24 of Conover, and Samantha Marie Vono, 33 of Hickory were taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with an incident that happened on Thursday the 20th at The Legends apartment complex, located at 21st Street SE in Hickory. According to reports a man was shot outside the apartments and was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Kirkland was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. He was taken to the Catawba County Detention Center and placed under a $500,000 secured Bond. Vono was charged with Aiding and Abetting an Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. She was also taken to the Catawba County Detention Center and placed under a $75,000 secured bond. The investigation is still ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
