CCC&TI Registration Continues for Fall Semester; Upcoming Career, Continuing Education and Workforce Training Courses Announced

Registration for the Fall Semester courses at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is ongoing and several upcoming continuing education and workforce training courses have also been announced for Fall. Following is more information on curriculum registration and details on several upcoming workforce development and career courses available on both CCC&TI’s Caldwell Campus in Hudson and Watauga Campus in Boone.

 

Curriculum Registration

Registration for Fall curriculum classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is ongoing for new and returning students. Curriculum classes begin on Thursday, Aug. 15 on both the Caldwell Campus in Hudson and the Watauga Campus in Boone. Seats are still available in a variety of programs including Autobody, Medical Office Administration, Healthcare and Health Services programs, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Integrated Machining, Industrial Maintenance, Emergency Services and more. Students interested in earning a degree, diploma or certificate or who are interested in college transfer courses are encouraged to begin the process of applying now. Students are also encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to claim their financial aid award prior to the start of the Fall Semester. Pharmacy Technician Training – Watauga

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Pharmacy Technician Training this fall from Aug. 15 to Dec. 5 on the Watauga campus in Boone. This 16-week course is designed to prepare students for employment in the pharmacy technician field. This class consists of convenient online instruction, with an in-person ability lab each week on Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Successful completion of this class allows students to sit for the national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Cost of the course is $187 plus textbooks and other supplies. Advanced Stretching Techniques – CE for Licensed Massage Therapists

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Advanced Stretching Techniques, a one-day Continuing Education class for licensed massage therapists and

other health and wellness professionals. The course will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 9 am to 6 pm on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. Advanced Stretching Techniques is taught by Marshal Hartley of Massage In Motion and offers 8 CE credits for those that satisfactorily complete the course. This class will cover basic orthopedic assessment techniques as well as the neuromuscular processes governing the stretch reflex and the inverse stretch reflex. Participants will learn how to utilize these mechanisms in combination with assessment observations to achieve improved balance and function throughout the body. This is primarily a hands-on course consisting of a short lecture then instructor demonstrations followed by trades for each major muscle group. Massage tables are provided. Please bring Students must provide their own table linens. The cost is $275 and a certificate of completion with 8 CE will be issued from Massage In Motion. The course is limited to 16 seats and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no prerequisites. Mental Health Technician

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer the Mental Health Technician course online from Sept. 9 to Dec. 6, 2024. The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills for safe, therapeutic care to patients with mental and behavioral health needs in an effective and ethical manner. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT) Level 1 certification exam and qualify for entry-level positions within special mental/behavioral health care programs. The course covers topics such as patient rights and documentation, trust and communication in health care, safety in the workplace, common psychiatric disorders, and chemical dependency and its effects. The cost for registration is $181 and the required textbook is $63. Scholarships and financial assistance are available for those that qualify. Massage Therapy – Caldwell Campus Evening Class

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer a Massage Therapy Evening Class on the Caldwell Campus from Sept. 30, 2024, to Sept. 29, 2025. The class will meet on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm and the second Saturday of each month from 8:30 am to 5 pm on the Caldwell campus in Hudson, NC. Through class work and practical “hands-on” training, students obtain a solid foundation for professional practice as an entry level Massage Therapist. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to sit for the certification exam and apply for state licensure in North Carolina. Cost for the course is $271 plus uniforms and supplies.

Industrial Sewing – Evening Courses

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer Industrial Sewing and Intro to Upholstery courses on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson this fall. The Introduction to

Industrial Sewing (English) course runs from Sept. 4 to Nov. 27 and meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $182. Financial assistance in available for those that qualify. The Introduction to Industrial Sewing (Spanish) course runs from Sept. 3 to Nov. 26 and meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 p.m. Cost of each course is $182. Financial assistance in available for those that qualify. The Intro to Industrial Sewing course is designed to give students an understanding of the basic skills and techniques necessary to be an industrial sewer. The student will be trained in the manufacturing concepts, tools, safety, and the communication skills that will help prepare them for a career as a sewer in various manufacturing settings. Emphasis is placed on machine operation, setup and maintenance, threading, sewing straight lines, corners, curves and welts. Introduction to Upholstery – Evening Course

CCC&TI’s Introduction to Upholstery Course will be offered on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson from Sept. 4 to Nov. 27 and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Introduction to Upholstery is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to become an entry-level upholsterer. In addition, students will learn the soft skills needed for employment. The course includes core skills, training in upholstery manufacturing concepts, tools and safety, and training in employability skills, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking. VMWare IT Academy – Online

CCC&TI’s VM Ware IT Academy will be offered this fall from Aug. 19 to Sept. 4. The online course will meet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. To 9 p.m. CCC&TI’s IT Academy training starts with the course designated version of vSphere as a base and then expands to include new content based on changes and updates to the current vSphere version. Our vHOL (Virtual Hands on Lab) and course material follow the same format as VMware’s official Install, Configure, and Management vSphere training. Successful completion of the ICM course, through CCC&TI’s VMware IT Academy, meets the requirements to obtain the VCP (Virtual Certified Professional) certification. HVAC Advanced – Caldwell and Watauga

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Caldwell Campus and Watauga Campus will offer Advanced HVAC from Aug. 29 to Dec. 12. Both classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Prerequisites for this course are the Intro to HVAC and Intermediate HVAC. This course will continue building upon the skills learned in the Intermediate HVAC Course. This course will focus on fasteners, hardware and wiring terminations, control circuit and motor troubleshooting and troubleshooting other components. The cost of the class is $187. Medication Aide – Watauga Campus

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Watauga Campus will offer Medication Aide from Aug. 28 to Sept. 5. The course will meet on Wednesday and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This course is designed to prepare non-licensed personnel with the skills required by the North Carolina Board of Nursing to practice as a Medication Aide in long-term care/skilled nursing facilities within the state of North Carolina. Upon successful course completion, students are eligible to sit for the state examination to become listed on the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation Medication Aide Registry. Cost of the course is $127 plus $32 for textbook. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Introduction to Plumbing – Caldwell and Watauga

Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute will offer Introduction to Plumbing this fall on both the Caldwell Campus and the Watauga Campus. Both courses will be offered from Aug. 26 to Dec. 11 and will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This course serves as the entry-level requirement for all other courses in the Plumbing Program. This course introduces basic plumbing tools, materials, and fixtures. Topics include standard plumbing tools, plumbing materials, fixtures used in basic plumbing systems, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of a basic plumbing system and be prepared for Intermediate Plumbing courses. Cost of the course is $190.
