Threatening social media posts aimed at Burke schools have put the school district on alert.
Between Aug. 26 and Sept. 6, schools have faced three weapons threats and a threat of attack has been reported to the Say Something app. As a result, Burke County Public Schools (BCPS) have increased the number of officers at schools.
According to Cheryl Shuffler, Public Relations Officer for BCPS, all threats have been investigated and determined to be unfounded. Heritage Middle, East Burke Middle, and Draughn High were the schools most often targeted.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Swan penned a letter to parents and guardians this morning.
In the letter, he details procedures when a threat is made and assures parents that BCPS priority is the safety of all children.
