On Saturday, May 16th, a roster of talented local musicians will present a concert in downtown Lenoir. This event is hosted by Liquid Roots Brewing Project from 4:00-9:00pm as a charity benefit for Caldwell County Yokefellow.
SOUNDS OF HOPE will showcase local musicians Roger Miller, Patrick and Kay Crouch, JonBoy & Lefty, Donna Moore Minton, and Sycamore Bones.
The music begins at 4pm featuring Sycamore Bones. Sycamore Bones first began in October 2013 when Cory Kinal met Andrew Massey at a local open mic night. Since then, the band has gone through a few iterations and in 2020 added Ruan Kinal, Nora Kinal and Cody Pennell. The 5-piece band incorporates country and alternative rock to more traditional Americana or folks style.
Roger Miller performs at 5pm with his free-range acoustic roots music that is well-burnished by years of playing good songs for good audiences. Roger draws on the deep well of traditional music and the songs that people know and love. Roger, from Lenoir, sings and plays guitar and clawhammer banjo.
At 6pm Donna Moore Minton takes the stage and brings her “soulful connection” that brings people together in a meaningful way. She is a local artist known for her passion for creating harmony, both in music and spirit. Donna has been featured multiple times in the Caldwell County Musicians Showcase, where her talent and heartfelt performances resonate with audiences. Through her music, Donna continues to inspire connection, warmth, and community.
Kay and Patrick Crouch will perform at 7pm. They are both multi-instrumentalist and have been part of the High-Country music scene since 1977. Kay and Patrick are dedicated to performing a variety of music styles in an acoustic setting. Their music is best described as a kaleidoscope of Americana with a healthy dose of country, blues, bluegrass, Celtic, roots rock and jazz standards. Kay and Patrick are delighted to play and sing just for you!
The evening will wrap up with JonBoy & Lefty performing at 8pm. JonBoy & Lefty Band, from Caldwell County, is a guitar/harmonica duo that formed in 2021 and morphed into a 4-piece band playing blues, rock, country, and Americana. Jon Doll is a songwriter front man and Kent “Lefty” Spears supports with harmonica and bass. Drummer Wes McCall, and a rotation of lead guitar players include JJ Hipps, Coty Robinett, Rob Simmons, and Peter Kinder rounds out this “musicians with day jobs” local favorite.
Please set aside a delightful Saturday evening to attend this concert and enjoy the musical experience of these most talented musicians in the setting of Liquid Roots Brewing Project.
The need for food and crisis assistance in our community is still more critical than ever. “An alarming increase” explains Executive Director Sharon Harmon. “This concert event is an opportunity for everyone to continue to support the needs of our community and enjoy a summer evening in downtown Lenoir.”
