According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, two area residents were killed and two more injured in a three-vehicle accident late Saturday on NC 16 near Mount Olive Church Road in Alexander County.
The driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line, 36-year-old Joshua Lance Mayberry of North Wilkesboro, died at the scene and a juvenile passenger in the same vehicle was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck, 29-year-old Justin Ryan Combs of Wilkesboro, died at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle, a 68-year-old Vale man, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
